The Port Authority yesterday released its $7 billion preliminary budget for 2012, which includes an 11 percent increase in operating revenues courtesy of the recent toll hikes.
Some of the bigger-ticket items the cash-strapped gency is funding next year include a $107 million upgrade to the PATH signal system and a $26 million upgrade to the George Washington Bridge, according to the budget.
The PA, which hiked tolls on all of its crossings in September, also plans to spend $2 billion on rebuilding the World Trade Center — a task it had deceptively cited as main reason for the huge toll hikes.
