An East Village artist cut himself loose from a knife-possession charge yesterday.

John Copeland, 34, was busted near his apartment last October for possessing an illegal gravity knife which he said he used for cutting canvases.

Manhattan criminal court Judge Marc Whiten told the artist that the misdemeanor weapon charge would be dismissed if he kept his nose clean for six months.
