Lawyers for embattled Bronx City Councilman Larry Seabrook convinced a judge that prosecutors can’t refer to his gal pal as his mistress.
“I do agree that the term ‘mistress’ is a loaded word,” Judge Deborah Batts said yesterday in a pretrial hearing in Manhattan federal court.
Batts then ordered the attorneys to refer to Gloria Jones-Grant as Seabrook’s “girlfriend” or “the woman with whom he was having an intimate relationship.”
Feds say that Seabrook funneled more than $1 million in council “slush” funds to shady Bronx nonprofit groups that he controlled and staffed with cronies, including his mistress, Jones-Grant.
