A deranged panhandler pleaded guilty Wednesday in Manhattan court for hitting a straphanger in the face with a metal pipe when the man refused to give him money.
Geovannie Nieves, 35, copped to first-degree assault in exchange for seven years in prison for the caught-on-camera attack July 7, 2018.
Nieves broke Michael Vansluytman’s eye socket and fractured his skull. The victim, a 59-year-old MTA worker, was on a southbound No. 2 train near Chambers Street when the crazed beggar approached him in the car.
When Vansluytman said he didn’t speak Spanish, Nieves flew into a violent rage, smashing the stranger in the face with the pipe.
Nieves fled and was nabbed the next day at a homeless shelter.
