A 41-year-old paraprofessional was arrested Wednesday for allegedly dropping a 10-year-old boy on the ground and shaking him in a disturbing encounter inside a Brooklyn school earlier this year, police said.

Demitrius Williams, 41, allegedly picked up the boy in “a cradle-like form”around 11:15 a.m. Feb. 5 inside the school on Christopher Avenue near Liberty Avenue in Brownsville before dropping him, cops and prosecutors said.

Paraprofessional Demitrius Williams, 41, allegedly picked up the 10-year-old boy before dropping him inside the Christopher Avenue school, authorities said.

The violence left the boy with bruises on his shoulder and hip, and a cut on his lip, the court doc said.

Williams was arrested Wednesday after an investigation by the NYPD’s Brooklyn Child Abuse Squad, police said.

He was charged with misdemeanor assault, endangering the welfare of a child, menacing and harassment, according to the complaint.

The charges were not bail-eligible – and though prosecutors pushed for supervised release, a judge cut Williams loose on his own recognizance, the Brooklyn DA’s office said.

The building where the violent incident happened houses multiple schools – the Christopher Avenue Community School, Uncommon Brownsville North Elementary School, P.S. 332 Charles H. Houston and Leadership Prep Ocean Hill Middle Academy.

A spokeswoman for the city’s Department of Education condemned Williams’ alleged actions.

“The safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority,” the statement said. “The alleged behavior is deeply disturbing and completely unacceptable; the individual was immediately suspended.”

“If the allegations are confirmed, we will pursue termination. All necessary and appropriate support will be provided to the school community.”
