A Manhattan lawyer is being probed on accusations that she bilked her partners out of more than $400,000 to support a lavish lifestyle of expensive dinners and hotels, dating services and private-school tuition.
Kelly Caputo has continued to practice law after being cut loose from Kolenovsky, Spiegel and Caputo for “a consistent pattern of misappropriating funds . . . on an almost daily basis for 27 months” ending in March 2009, according to papers submitted by her ex-partners to the First Judicial Department.
The firm reported the alleged thefts in June 2009 after hiring an ethics lawyer who advised the partners they were obligated to turn Caputo in.
Caputo’s lawyer, Sarah Jo Hamilton, did not return a call for comment.
