A ride on a PATH train would cost more than one on a city subway for the first time in 50 years under proposed Port Authority fare increases.
The Port Authority’s $1 fare hike would put a single ride at $2.75 — a quarter more than a trip on the vastly more expansive city subways.
The last time the PATH cost more than the subway was in 1962, when its fare was 30 cents, and the subway 15 cents.
The PA is also looking to hike 30-day unlimited PATH passes from $54 to a $89, a whopping 65 percent increase. That would be the equivalent of a monthly MetroCard fare bump from $104 to $170.
