The Port Authority’s massive bridge- and tunnel-toll hikes have driven people underground.

The PATH train counted a record high 76.6 million trips last year — nearly 2 million more rides than the previous record in 2008, when 74.9 million riders used the Jersey-to-Manhattan line.

Ridership for 2011 was 3.6 percent higher than 2010.

PATH ridership rose significantly after the agency hiked tolls in September.
