Pearl Harbor remembered
A wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate the attack on Pearl Harbor 71 years ago will be held today at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
The annual event will take place on Pier 86 this year instead of aboard the USS Intrepid, which remains closed because of damage from Hurricane Sandy.
At the ceremony’s conclusion, Pearl Harbor survivors will toss a wreath into the Hudson River, Taps will be played, and there will be a 21-gun salute to honor those killed. The public won’t be able to attend today’s ceremony because the pier can’t accommodate large groups due to ongoing repairs to the museum. It is expected to reopen by Dec. 21, officials said
