A man was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Brooklyn Sunday, police said.

Jose Contla, 26, was walking on 19th Avenue between 86th Street and Benson Avenue in Bath Beach around 7:25 a.m. when a black Sedan hit him and then fled the scene, police said.

Contla was on his way to work at a local family bakery, Pandería La Autentica, when he was struck by the speeding car, a family member told the Post.

Dennis Gromadsky, 37, said he stopped to help the victim.

“He was on the ground when I ran over. I checked his pulse. Couldn’t find one,” he told the Post. “I asked other people to help and they just walked away. I yelled at them to help me help him but they couldn’t be bothered.”

Contla was rushed to Maimonides where he died.

Contla graduated from Kingsborough with honors, his wife of six years, Marisol Contla, told the Post.

“He wanted to be a criminal lawyer. He hated injustice,” the 27-year-old said in an interview. “He would always have a smile no matter what his mood. He was the only thing I had. He promised me he’d never leave, now I’m alone.”

“It was him and me against the world.”

Police are still looking for the driver.
