Police say a pedestrian has been struck and killed by a private sanitation truck in Brooklyn.

They say the man was crossing eastbound on Myrtle Avenue near Broadway when he was hit at 7:12 a.m. Friday. Police say it appeared accidental.

The driver of the truck remained on the scene.
