For one day, at least, it was a pedestrian’s dream come true.

A city crackdown on pesky pedicabs went into effect yesterday, leaving the streets blissfully clear of many of the maddening nuisances.

As of last night, one of the contraptions had been yanked off the streets by cops and 52 summonses were issued to drivers for various infractions.

New regulations require all pedicabs to be licensed. They also have to display their licenses on the bike’s crossbar and a rate card on the passenger compartment.

Many of the three-wheeled hellraisers have been forced back to their depots until they can bring their rigs into compliance with the new regulations.

“Good riddance,” said Sharon Fischer of Dallas. “I took one when I was here a few years ago. I wouldn’t do it again because it was way more than expensive than a regular cab.”

The NYPD set up checkpoints to make sure the few drivers out on the road had their paperwork in order.

At one station on West 45th Street and Seventh Avenue, cops stopped just seven drivers in almost 2½ hours — all of whom kept within the rules.

As of Friday, the city had received 178 applications from companies looking to register 943 pedicabs, and 314 from drivers.
