Pedicab owners had better bring their prices down — or answer to the City Council.

The legislator who crafted the bill that led to a safety overhaul for the rickety vehicles said yesterday that owners have a little more than a year to prove they won’t price-gouge passengers.

And if he’s not convinced, he’s ready to propose a bill that would standardize the rate for pedicab rides, similar to what the horse-drawn-carriage industry has now.

Queens Democrat Leroy Comrie said he was stunned when he read about the high prices — like $50 for a 20-minute ride — and differing holiday rates in The Post.

And he’s ready to propose a bill that would standardize the rate for pedicab rides, similar to what the horse-and-carriage industry uses.

“My gut reaction is that I’m not happy about people being gouged during certain times of the year. If an owner sets a price, it should be a standard price,” Comrie said.

New licensing rules for pedicabs are going into effect this weekend.
