Tourists are one thing — but taking the tax man for a ride is another.

Savas Avci, a licensed pedicabby who allegedly charges clueless out-of-towners more than $400 to travel a few blocks, could be in big trouble for adding sales tax to his bills, The Post has learned.

Pedicab rides — unlike limo and black-car rides — are exempt from the state sales tax.

But that hasn’t stopped Avci.

He added $36.54 in sales tax to the $406 he charged a Texas family of four last week after driving them from 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue to 55th Street near Sixth Avenue, according to the receipt.

He also charged a Maryland family $28.52 in tax on the $316 ride from Times Square to 30th Street and Fifth Avenue.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Consumer Affairs, which licenses pedicabbies, said his case will be sent to the Department of Taxation to investigate if he is sending the taxes he’s collecting to the state.

Avci’s name is also not registered with the state as a vendor who collects tariffs, a necessity for any entity that does.
