Simon Pegg says he lost an iPod and a camera loaded with pictures in a New York City hotel burglary. But the “Star Trek” movie actor’s habit of safeguarding his wedding ring apparently kept it from thieves.

The British actor testified Wednesday — for the second time — against a man accused of burglarizing a SoHo Grand Hotel suite. The incident occurred during August 2007 filming for the comedy “How to Lose Friends & Alienate People.”

Pegg’s, co-star, Kirsten Dunst, testified Tuesday that her $2,000 handbag also was stolen.

A defense lawyer says suspect James Jimenez (JIH’-mehn-ehz) just accompanied a co-defendant he thought was allowed to be there.

Pegg says he routinely hides his wedding ring while changing into costume.
