Peninsula Hosp to shut
Bankrupt Peninsula Hospital is being taken off life support.
The state Health Department ordered the Arverne, Queens, hospital closed for good, because of trouble with its finances and its medical lab. About 1,000 workers will be out of jobs.
In bankruptcy court yesterday, the trustee overseeing the 104-year-old, 173-bed facility threw in the towel, saying it was time to “wind down the affairs of the hospital.”
