A tractor-trailer lost its load while driving along the Major Deegan Expressway in The Bronx Thursday, striking a charter bus, police said.

At least a dozen people were left stranded in the middle of the highway near East 240th Street after a backhoe came tumbling off the flatbed truck shortly after 1:30 p.m., aerial photos from NBC New York show.

There were no immediate injuries reported, FDNY officials said.

It was not immediately clear how the backhoe fell off the truck.
