Nine students were taken to a hospital yesterday after getting hit by pepper spray at a Harlem school, authorities said.
The students from the Academy for Social Action: A College Board School — which serves grades 6 to 12 — were treated for minor respiratory ailments at St. Luke’s Hospital after a 14-year-old girl sprayed a fourth-floor classroom.
It’s believed the girl sprayed indiscriminately into the air and did not target anyone.
A Department of Education spokeswoman said the girl was issued a juvenile report and school officials are investigating.
Principal Rhokeisha Ford did not respond to a request for comment.
Self-defense sprays like Mace and pepper-spray are illegal for anyone under 18 to possess.
