A man taken into custody because he was drinking beer in public Friday was charged with murder early Saturday, authorities said.

The Queens arrest comes as the City Council considers decriminalizing low-level offenses such as public intoxication.

Zoltan Forai, 44, had been described by cops as a “person of interest’’ in the slaying of Diego Piedrahita, 23, whose body was found June 10 in Forest Park.

After Forai gave his name to cops who arrested him on the public-drinking charge, detectives on the murder case were notified.

Police have not disclosed the motive in the slaying, but Forai and Piedrahita knew each other.

The arresting cops Friday did not recognize him because the police sketch of the murder suspect showed a bearded man. Forai had since shaved his off.
