A pervy career criminal busted in a sex attack on a teen was eventually freed without bail — leaving him to rape a woman over the weekend on the Upper West Side, cops and sources said. 

Jamel McIver, 30, was nabbed Sunday in the heinous Manhattan rape — after his own family turned him in, sources said.

The suspect — who has 15 prior arrests — was finally ordered held without bail at his arraignment Monday, when Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Jonathan Carfagno said McIver’s “abhorrent conduct is part of a pattern of physical and sexual violence.”

McIver’s latest crime involved raping a woman in a building stairwell at West End Avenue and West 65th Street in Manhattan early Saturday, cops said.

McIver — who was once arrested for beating his 2-month-old son — trailed behind his 21-year-old victim as she entered the building around 1:20 a.m. and followed her into an elevator, cops said.

He then forced her out of the lift and into a stairwell, where he raped her, police said.

“He basically made threats to her that he was going to kill her if she didn’t comply,” a police spokesman said.

According to a criminal complaint, McIver twice threatened the victim, telling her, “Do what I say or I am going to f–king kill you!” and, “Do not f–king say anything, or I will kill you!”

He allegedly then forced the woman to walk down the stairs and outside.

“Walk out with me, and do exactly what I say,” he allegedly warned. “If you call the police or I see myself on the news, I am going to kill you.”

McIver can be seen at one point taking off his jacket and tossing it over a fence in a video released by police, authorities said. He fled on foot, they said.

The woman ran back to her building and told relatives of the attack. She was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

McIver was tracked down around 4 p.m. Sunday thanks to a tip from a relative and arrested and charged with rape, sexually motivated burglary and criminal sex act, cops said. He was ordered held without bail Monday.

His previous busts include a 2013 Delaware arrest for allegedly beating his infant son and a 2019 Big Apple case in which he was accused of sneaking into a sleeping teenager’s bedroom and forcing her to touch his groin, according to authorities, records and law-enforcement sources.

In the 2019 sex case, McIver pulled his vehicle to the front of the 16-year-old girl’s building on Beck Street near Avenue St. John in Longwood and slipped into her apartment through a fire escape, authorities and sources said at the time. The pair didn’t know each other, source said.

The young victim told police she woke up to find him standing over her bed.

“I want you to touch me,” the stranger told her, according to police sources at the time. “Don’t scream. I have a gun.”

McIver then grabbed her hand and placed it on his pants over his genitals, police said.

The terrified teen was able to free herself from his grasp, prompting the man to flee from the room through the same fire-escape window.

He was arrested two days later, cops said.

Bronx prosecutors said McIver was initially ordered held on $250,000 bail in that case but then released without bail in March 2020 because of state speedy-trial statutes. He only had an order of protection against him involving the teen.

McIver then pleaded guilty in the case in August as part of a plea deal with Bronx prosecutors that required him to enroll in a two-year rehabilitation program at Odyssey House, an addiction treatment center in East Harlem, where he was living.

The agreement mandated a five-year sentence if he did not complete the program.

An assessment of his behavior was supposed to be made Feb. 22, but the case was adjourned because his public defender was tied up at trial.

His hearing was scheduled for March 29.

In a statement Monday, Patrice O’Shaughnessy, director of communications for Bronx DA Darcel Clark, said, “Our office will make a request to produce [the] defendant on March 8, 2023, to request remand and ask that [the] promised sentence, five years in prison, be imposed.”

Officials at Odyssey House did not respond to a request for comment on the case.

In the Delaware case, McIver was charged Dec. 8, 2013, with first-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly beating his infant son, according to sources and records.

Police were called to the Bayheath Medical Center in Dover, where the baby was found with “multiple contusions and swelling” to his face, and McIver was charged, the records show.

He was arraigned and ordered held on $51,000. The outcome of the case was not immediately known.
