Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will be stripped of his State Police security detail weeks before the normally allotted time, according to reports.

The Garden State’s former gov was expected to have his security detail for another two weeks of the six-month period allotted for outgoing governors. He left office on Jan. 16.

But Christie’s successor, Gov. Phil Murphy, decided to cut the detail short, according to an NJ.com report, which cites two anonymous sources.

The after-office protection is typically maintained by a single State Police Executive Protection Unit officer, according to the report.

It wasn’t immediately clear why the decision was made.

A rep for Murphy’s office deferred comment to the State Police, which declined to comment to the news website.

Meanwhile, Christie would not comment to the site, but confirmed he did not request to discontinue the detail earlier than scheduled.

Christie infamously spent his day at a beach while it was closed during a government shutdown in July 2017 — just days before the July 4th holiday.

“The governor has a residence at Island Beach,” he said at the time. “Others don’t. That’s the way it goes. Run for governor and you can have the residence.”
