This happy photo of a father and son has been rendered tragic — emerging online after the dad was killed and the boy seriously injured in a shooting in the Bronx.
The sweet snap posted to Instagram shows Jaquan Millien, 29, and his 5-year-old son, Omari, smiling and spending time together.
Millien picked up his son from school Tuesday afternoon before he got into a fight with a man who would cut his life short inside the Butler Houses on Webster Avenue near East 170th Street in Claremont Village at about 4:40 p.m., cops said.
The shooter pulled a gun in a sixth-floor stairwell and blasted the child in the arm and his father in the stomach, according to police officials.
A plainclothes housing lieutenant from Police Area 7 used his belt as a tourniquet on the boy’s arm when he got to the bloody scene, authorities said.
The child was hospitalized and is expected to survive. Millien was taken to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The gunman remains at large.
Bronx Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson commented on the afternoon tragedy via Twitter early Wednesday, saying she is “heartbroken.”
“Thank You to the PO’s on the ground who responded so swiftly to save the life of a child shot senselessly while with his father. Awful! The investigation is underway to determine the facts and identify those responsible for this heinous act of violence!” Gibson tweeted.
