A Long Islander was killed Wednesday when he was mowed down in a wild road-rage incident in Manhattan, cops said.
The fatal clash erupted when the 54-year-old victim, driving a pickup truck on the Upper East Side, confronted a 26-year-old Pennsylvania driver at around 4 p.m., according to police.
The two men had a tense verbal altercation that quickly escalated.
The driver of the pickup exited his vehicle at East 60th Street between Park and Third avenues and slashed the tires of the suspect’s gray Volkswagen Jetta, according to police.

The victim was rushed to Presbyterian Hospital but could not be saved. Citizen AppThe Pennsylvania man then allegedly slammed the accelerator on his Jetta and plowed into the older man.
The victim was thrown across the sidewalk, and slammed into a storefront, shattering the glass windows.
Witnesses said responding firefighters “violently” performed CPR on the victim and put him on a gurney.
The 26-year-old was taken into custody. Charges against him were pending Wednesday night.

“One of the staff members from this restaurant came out to bring water for the family of the Jetta, witness Jay Aha recalled.
“Someone from the restaurant mentioned, ‘Oh the guy stabbed the tires and [the Jetta driver] was just kind of trying to defend himself.’ ”
Police have not yet released the identities of either man.
