The mayor of Yonkers wants New York City to clean up its crap.

Mountains of trash are piling up alongside the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx — prompting a flood of complaints, according to Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, whose Westchester County city shares a border with the Big Apple.

Photos show debris, including an abandoned boat, and illegally parked tractor trailers clogging up both the service lanes and shoulders along a stretch of the highway, also known as Interstate 87, that’s under the city’s jurisdiction.

“New York City, I’m sure they know it’s in their best interest to clean the gateways because it’s what the people will remember coming into your community,” Spano told The Post on Tuesday.

“That sends a horrible message as to what you’re going to expect as you go further and deeper into the city.”

The mounting filth seems to have ramped up in recent months, Spano said, as “dumping seems to attract additional dumping.”

Google maps images from March and May show an abandoned boat and a stack of tires on the service road near the 233rd Street exit and a line of tractor trailers, including one not attached to a truck, near the McLean Avenue exit.

The dumping is focused near Van Cortlandt Park, just south of the McLean Avenue exits at the Westchester County border, Spano said, which could attract rodents — making it a public health concern.

Commercial trailers parked or idling along the highway are also “causing visibility issues” for motorists that could turn deadly, he said.

Spano said he understands there’s an enforcement issue with the trucks – owners would rather pay a $150 a day fine for illegally parking there than pay to park the rig legally.

“Let me tell you what we’d do in Yonkers, New York: We’d increase the fine,” Spano said. “We want them to enforce the law. We’d like them to take a look at the fines. If the fines are too lean then they need to raise it. And of course, clean the roadway.”

The mayor also suggested New York should try video enforcement to catch illegal dumpers. Yonkers has sent a formal request to the city Department of Transportation, he added.

An NYPD spokesperson said in a statement that cops are “constantly patrolling the arterial highways to ensure that no tractor trailers are illegally parked” on the side of the thoroughfares.

“The Department recognizes that illegally parked tractor trailers are an issue and we are constantly responding to complaints of these trailers, issuing summonses and then following up with towing them,” the spokesperson told The Post.
