The pilot of the private plane that plunged into the Atlantic Ocean off Long Island Saturday was an instrument-rated commercial pilot licensed to fly multi-engine planes, according to FAA records.
Jon Dollard held a second-class medical certificate as a commercial pilot that expired May 31, two days before the accident, records show.
But if the flight was not revenue-producing, his third-class medical certificate would have been in effect. At his age, a private pilot’s medical is good for two years.
Dollard, 47, famed builder Ben Krupinski, his wife, Bonnie, 70, and their grandson, William Maerov, 22, were aboard the ill-fated plane, which went down off Amagansett about 3:20 p.m. Saturday.
The FAA referred The Post to the National Transportation Safety Board for questions about the airmen’s qualifications. The NTSB could not be reached for comment.
