An airplane was diverted to JFK Airport on Tuesday afternoon due to smoke in the cockpit, authorities said.

The Rhode Island-bound plane took off from Dulles Airport outside of Washington, DC, at about 12:30 p.m., according to Port Authority Police.

The aircraft was then rerouted to JFK where it touched down at about 1:50 p.m.

Passengers were evacuated on the runway. One person was taken to Jamaica Hospital for a minor injury, authorities said.
