An NYPD sergeant was arrested for equipping his car with a device that could hide his license plate by making it flip over, police said this morning.

Sgt. Grigoriy Bardash, 32, was busted Monday and charged with obstructing governmental administration after he was found with the plate-flipper at an undisclosed location.

Police said the incident was an “investigative arrest” but declined to give more information about whether it was due to an ongoing investigation. The device would flip when the driver activated it.

Flippers that hide plates by remote control are sometimes used by drivers to avoid being ID’d by red-light cameras or at toll booths.
