The morbidly obese, decomposing body found stuffed inside a laundry bag in a Soundview apartment over the weekend has been identified as 52-year-old Angel Rondon.

Rondon had been badly beaten on the head and sustained severe skull trauma, law-enforcement sources said.

His body was discovered after police were called to investigate a foul odor in his sixth-floor apartment at the Bronxdale Houses on Bruckner Boulevard at about 3 p.m. Saturday.

The corpse was shoved into a large, maroon bag, which was crammed inside a kitchen closet. Police used dental and fingerprint records to confirm his identity.
