ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Authorities say an upstate New York man who reported his girlfriend missing nearly two weeks ago has been charged with killing her during a domestic dispute and dumping her body along an interstate highway.

Carl Nelson of Rochester was charged early Friday with second-degree murder several hours after the body of 31-year-old Sherie Wilson was found along Interstate 490 in the Rochester suburb of Chili.

The 45-year-old Nelson reported her missing on Feb. 1 and told police he last saw her two days earlier leaving a house late at night. With his arraignment set for Saturday, a defense lawyer has not yet been assigned.

Officer LaRon Singletary, a police spokesman, said it remained unclear how and when the victim died or how long ago her body was dumped.
