A police officer was hit by a car during a traffic stop involving a stolen vehicle in Brooklyn, authorities said Saturday.

Officers from the NYPD’s Anti-Crime Unit had stopped the car shortly after 10:45 p.m. Friday near Riverdale Avenue and Chester Street in Brownsville, after suspecting it was stolen, police said.

At some point during the stop, the 28-year-old man behind the wheel drove the car onto the sidewalk in an alleged getaway attempt — striking the police officer in the process, authorities said.

The cop then fired his service weapon into the car, shattering a window, which injured the driver, police said. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The police officer was also taken to a local hospital for “severe bruising to right leg.”

The driver and his 28-year-old female passenger were taken into police custody. It wasn’t immediately clear if the car was, in fact, stolen. Charges against the suspects were pending.
