That’s a good boy!
The bomb-sniffing dog named after slain NYPD cop Eddie Byrne will lead off the New York City Police Foundation’s annual calendar.
“I’m thrilled he’s being featured on the cover,” recently retired Lt. Brian Corrigan told The Post.
Corrigan, who left the NYPD in August, said he was “very honored” to be assigned the dog with the fallen officer’s name.
“I had three years on the job when Eddie Byrne was killed and it definitely shaped my career, where it headed,” Corrigan said.
The K9 joined the force in 2018 as the first bomb-sniffing pursuit canines from Miami-Dade County, Florida.
Eddie will be featured on the cover of the 13-month calendar along with other police canines and police horses.
The calendars are selling for $20 and all proceeds go toward the Police Foundation.
“These K9s truly are a New Yorker’s best friend,” said Susan Birnbaum, president of the foundation. “Every day they work to keep us safe by sniffing out explosives, protecting our transit system, and fighting terrorism. We are proud to honor them with this calendar.”
Last week, Eddie Byrne’s brother, Larry, who joined the force to honor his fallen sibling, died.
“He loved the city, he loved the canines and the program … it’s sad overall,” Corrigan said of Larry Byrne.
