BRONXVILLE, N.Y. — Police say a 15-year-old girl who died on her way to mail a Christmas card in Bronxville bled to death internally, but they don’t yet know the cause.

Bronxville Police Chief Christopher Satriale said Friday that a preliminary autopsy report says the girl died from a lacerated liver.

Satriale says the injury was caused by blunt force trauma to the midsection. He says police don’t believe she was struck by a car and are investigating the possibility that she could have fallen, been pushed or been struck by a bicycle.

He says there is a high curb, a boulder and a metal railing in the area, any of which could have caused the injury.

He says it’s possible the girl slipped, but there were no icy patches at the spot, only slushy snow.
