Mayor Bloomberg, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and several federal lawmakers yesterday demanded federal funds for a security program for area transit systems.
Rep. Peter King (R-LI) and Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) joined the mayor to promote a homeland-security funding bill that includes $50 million for the program, called “Securing the Cities.”
The money would pay for cameras and other devices in tunnels and on bridges to detect nuclear materials.
