Owners Omer Shorshi and Suzanne Levinson have signed a lease for a spot at 128 MacDougal St. near Washington Square Park – and hope to open in the fall.

“We’re just sorry about what happened there,” Levinson told The Post about the gas explosion that killed two men and injured about 20 people on Second Avenue. “They were our neighbors for 18 years. It just shows there are no guarantees in life.”

Levinson stressed that she and Shorshi are talking with an architect – so plans are not yet finalized on the new, 800-square-foot digs, which will cost about $9,000 in rent.

Their popular greasy joint at 123 Second Ave. covered 500 square feet and carried a rent of $5,000.

The owners eyed more than 50 locations but couldn’t find the right price, so they decided to move from the neighborhood.

Levinson noted that they had originally craved the crowd in the West Village when they planned to launch their grab-and-go eatery.

“It was really a demographic that we were looking for then,” she said.

Foodies took to Twitter to cheer the tater news.
