A longtime postal worker was allegedly caught ripping open mail and pilfering $15,000 worth of cash and gift cards, according to a new criminal complaint.
Antonio Roberts, who has worked at the USPS since 1989, was seen on surveillance video Wednesday “rifling” through mail at the Ninth Avenue distribution facility in Manhattan, opening envelopes and then pocketing several pieces, the Manhattan federal court papers allege.
Roberts admitted to swiping $200 in cash and nine gift cards after being arrested, the papers say.
He also confessed to stealing a total of $15,000 between May and November.
