Dozens of Brooklynites wearing anti-racism T-shirts crowded a Manhattan federal court Monday to support Park Slope Collegiate school principal Jill Bloomberg and her request for a temporary restraining order against the Department of Education.

Bloomberg’s lawyers argued that the DOE opened a probe into Bloomberg’s political activities during school hours as retaliation for her criticism of what she considered racist funding practices.

The probe has had a “chilling effect” on staffers, Bloomberg’s lawyers said. But a lawyer for the city pointed to the packed courtroom as proof that the First Amendment is “alive and well” at the school.

Judge Paul Gardephe said he will rule later this week.
