A group of inmates claim they were scared for their lives after being trapped in their cells while a fire broke out at the Manhattan Detention Complex last year.

Albert Acosta, Frank Crawley, Jeffrey Williams, Naquan Edmundson, Troy Glasson, Joseph Kelly, Yhavanny Peguero and Ambrose Wan were kept on lockdown “while a fire raged in and about cell #19,” they claim in court papers.

The July 2015 blaze left the inmates with smoke inhalation “and emotional damage due to the fear of the fire,” their Manhattan Supreme Court suit alleges.

Corrections head Joseph Ponte “cares deeply about the health and well-being of inmates, and we take such allegations seriously,” a rep said.
