Maybe they’ve been afflicted with “non-filer syndrome.”

Two dozen professionals from around the state, including a college professor, attorneys and doctors, face criminal prosecution for failing to file state income tax returns, authorities announced yesterday.

Their alleged failure to submit returns echoes the tax troubles of Charles O’Byrne, the former adviser to Gov. Paterson, who claimed to suffer from “non-filer syndrome.”

Hunter College lecturer Stephen Wetta was charged with two felonies and six misdemeanors for not filing state returns between 2004 and 2008, and owing $11,279. The Queens DA said he faces four years in the slammer.
