A utility company has tapped the high-powered attorney who led the “Deflategate” probe to investigate how electricity was cut to the home of a New Jersey woman who relied on an oxygen tank — and who died hours later.

PSE&G has retained Ted Wells of New York City law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP to head an “independent investigation of the facts surrounding the company’s actions regarding the suspension of electric service for Linda Daniels,” the company announced Friday.

Wells previously ran the investigation into allegations that the New England Patriots deliberately deflated footballs, with his verdict leading to harsh penalties for the team and quarterback Tom Brady.

Daniels, 68, who relied on an electric-powered oxygen tank to breathe, died earlier this month of congestive heart failure just hours after PSE&G cut the electricity to her Newark home.

PSE&G previously said it turned off the power due to outstanding payments over the course of several months.

But Daniels’ daughter, Desiree Washington, has said a family member made an electronic payment to the company two days before Daniels’ death and that her family previously notified the utility company of her mom’s medical issues.

“She is somebody’s mother … You took a life,” Washington previously told reporters as she blamed the utility company for her mother’s death.

PSE&G claimed it had no knowledge of Daniels’ condition.

In announcing the independent investigation into the matter, PSE&G said Wells “will have access to all relevant information, and at the conclusion of his review, his findings will be shared with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.”

“We are confident that Ted Wells’ review will provide us with an objective review of the facts surrounding this tragic event,” PSE&G’s president and chief operating officer, Dave Daly, said in a statement.
