‘Puff’ pieces extinguished
A federal appeals court yesterday snuffed out the city Health Department’s edict that all stores that sell cigarettes display anti-smoking ads.
The decision said the city cannot trump federal regulations on tobacco warnings.
Trade groups for gas stations and convenience stores — along with the cigarette giants Lorillard, Philip Morris USA and RJ Reynolds — had filed suit in 2010 after the Board of Health approved the rule in 2009.
