Gov. Cuomo tossed a political hand grenade at Mayor Bloomberg yesterday, questioning whether the mayor’s plan to provide metered cab service outside of Manhattan still has substantial support in Albany.

Cuomo said support for the plan to allow street hails in the outer boroughs “appears to be dissipating,” contradicting the mayor’s view just three days earlier.

“The bill isn’t to me yet, as you know, and there are a number of concerns,” Cuomo told reporters.

“The more time goes on, the more concerns are raised. Some of the original supporters of the bill are now questioning the bill and want to make modifications,” the governor went on. “So there may be modifications.

“But I think support . . . appears to be dissipating.”

Those were stinging words, especially since Bloomberg offered the opposite assessment on his WOR Radio show Friday.
