A northeast Queens-based judge who oversaw the trial of Brooke Astor’s son admitted to misusing a police placard to park his SUV at meters in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, the New York Post reported.

Justice A. Kirke Birkley, who is from Queens, told the Post he was “remiss” by not feeding the parking meters and using a placard, which expires Feb. 1, that said “This vehicle is on official police business.”

The Post reported that it spotted the judge’s vehicle at an expired meter as far back as Nov. 5. No tickets had been issued to his SUV, the newspaper reported.

A sticker on Birkley’s windshield showed the judge’s registration had expired Dec. 31, the Post reported.

Birkley, who has also been a Queens prosecutor, had presided over the trial of Anthony Marshall, 85, the only son of Manhattan philanthropist Brooke Astor. Marshall was sentenced in December to one to three years in prison for changing his mother’s will after she had Alzheimer’s and stealing millions of dollars from her.
