A Queens couple desperately leaped out a window when a fire swept through their cluttered home, fire officials and witnesses said.
The blaze apparently broke out in the kitchen of the couple’s second floor apartment at 30-92 41st Street in Astoria at 12:47 p.m., fire officials and residents said.
“I saw the girl…laid out in the alley, she couldn’t move,” said neighbor Sergio DeSilva, 25, who raced out of his first floor residence when he saw the smoke. “And I saw him out the window ready to jump.” The victims were rushed to Elmhurst Hospital with serious injuries.
It took 60 firefighters less than 30 minutes to extinguish the all-hands fire
