An 18-year-old Queens man busted for turnstile jumping turned out to be a murder suspect who cops had been searching for since the summer, police said.

Shahid Burton, who lives in Long Island City, is one of two people sought in the fatal shooting of Jelan Moreira, 29, in the courtyard of the Ravenswood Houses on Aug. 26.

“The defendant is alleged to have shot him numerous time,” said Chief Assistant Queens DA John M. Ryan, adding Burton faces 25 years to life in prison if he’s convicted.

He was held without bail at his arraignment on Thursday.

The name of the second suspect in the murder has not been released.

Proponents of putting more cops in the subways have long pointed out that many people arrested for misdemeanors turn out to be wanted for more serious crimes.
