A substitute teacher in Queens is accused of hurting a 6-year-old student.
Authorities say Grace Peterson-Hagendorf has been charged with assault.
WCBS radio reports that the alleged incident occurred at P.S. 22 in Flushing on Wednesday.
The Department of Education said Peterson-Hagendorf is a retired teacher who has worked at various schools during her career.
It says she has been barred from teaching pending the outcome of the investigation into the incident.
It was not immediately clear if Peterson-Hagendorf had retained a lawyer.
