Ofra Somer, a teacher at JHS 194 in Queens, turned off the lights and bolted from her classroom as soon as she heard the final bell on Nov. 21, 2008 — leaving pupils behind.
Somer never denied the hasty exit. But she claimed she left five kids behind in the class — not 15, the DOE tally.
A DOE recommendation to sack Somer was rejected — despite many unsatisfactory job evaluations.
