A Queens woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for shaking her 7-month-old daughter so violently that the baby later died.
District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced the sentencing of 21-year-old Nyemah Nickens of Far Rockaway.
She pleaded guilty to manslaughter last month.
The baby, Nyla Nickens, was repeatedly shaken as she cried on the evening of Sept. 4, 2010.
Doctors treated Nyla for brain injury but couldn’t save her. She died four days later.
