A Queens woman was fatally by struck by a turning driver just blocks from her home Friday morning, police said.

Masae Takeda, 66, was attempting to cross Van Horn Street in Elmhurst at 11:17 a.m. when a male driver of a black Infinity SUV collided with her as she attempted to turn right onto 57th Avenue, according to police.

Takeda, who lived just two blocks away on 58th Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was driving south on Van Horn as he made his turn. It was not immediately clear what direction Takeda was walking or whether she was in the crosswalk, police said.

No arrests or summonses were issued and an investigation is ongoing.

There were 23 traffic fatalities recorded through Feb. 16 of this year, down from 28 at that point in 2019, according to the most recent NYPD data.
