Veterans of the Iraq, Afghanistan and Gulf wars should get priority in one of the city’s affordable-housing programs, according to the City Council.

On the day before Veterans Day, Council Speaker Christine Quinn yesterday introduced a measure urging the state Legislature to give newer veterans first dibs in Mitchell-Lama housing developments.

Vietnam veterans have long been given preference for Mitchell-Lama homes.
