Rains flood major city roads
Those weren’t just early April showers over the weekend — it was a deluge that left area highways swamped.
The flooding temporarily closed part of the Belt Parkway in Queens on Sunday morning, and wreaked havoc on an eight-mile stretch of the Bronx River Parkway in Westchester.
A section of highway in Bronxville was also shut for a short period of time, and a government center in White Plains had to close due to the flooding.
The rain is expected to let up early Monday, according to AccuWeather.
As it tapers off at around 7 a.m., clouds will give way to sunny skies and rising temperatures.
